My real name is Sarah, but I go by Wombat in the PC (since 2003ish). I've been hanging out playing this silly kids game since about 1999, so I must be pretty addicted :P. My birthday is February 6, and I'm in my Junior year of college. I grew up in a very small town near Portland, Oregon, but now I'm living in southern California attending Harvey Mudd College, where I'm majoring in Mathematics and Philosophy, and taking lots of extra Physics.
During school, I play trombone in the band or orchestra, and I've been playing piano on-and-off since 1997. Since 1999, my primary interest has been horseback riding. I had to put this on hold during my first year at Mudd, but last year I took lessons at a Hunter barn for PE credit. I primarily ride Dressage, but I've done a little of almost every discipline with Rainy, the pony I leased for about 6 years. In the summer of 2009, I worked at the barn (feeding, turnouts, etc.), working about 8 different horses, and showing two of them. In my spare time (read: during breaks), I work out, read, play DDR, and make things like RDBA. Last summer (2010) I did research at NCSU in Raleigh, North Carolina. Since then, I've been doing Shaun T's Insanity work out because I'm apparently a crazy person!
I'm a pretty sanguine person. I love horses, math, science, having fun, eating too much, staying up too late, being a dork, caffeine, cheese, and life in general. I can be very opinionated, but I tend to get along with anyone who isn't overly negative.

About RDBA
Why did I decide to create RDBA? Well, I actually came up with the idea a couple years ago, and just never had time to bring it to life until the summer of 2009. My primary motivation all along has been "just to see if I can." Beyond that, my inspiration for RDBA came from an early PC memory of a website devoted entirely to breeder pages that was up and running a long, long time ago. I still have (at least) one of the petz I adopted from this place even though I can't remember the name of the site anymore [Note: Since posting this, I have rediscovered that it was called Petz Hideout Breeders Association]. RDBA started out as me wanting to recreate this old community of breeders, but with a modern twist: I've seen how, as the PC ages, we (myself included!) run out of time to devote to this game. I thought, Wouldn't it be great if there were some easy web-based way to update our adoption pages? The more I thought about it, and the more I learned about php, the more I realized that this was not only possible--it was something I could do! And thus, RDBA was born.
As for why the name "Rainy Day Breeders Association"? Part of it comes from my fragmented memories of the old breeding community, the name of which I forgot, but for some reason I had a vague recollection that it had to do with rain [See above: It didn't. :P]. Another part is that "Rainy" is the name of a very, very special pony who got me through the tough years of Jr. High and High School, contributing to my fond memories of things associated with rain. Still another part of it comes from a games store near where I lived growing up called "Rainy Day Games" that was one of my favorite stores as a kid; since RDBA is all about memories for me, it seemed all too appropriate, especially as petz becomes more and more of a "rainy day" game for me. Perhaps this is the most important reason: petz is really just an idle pasttime for me now. It's a venue for playing with computers, or art, and if I try to get myself too devoted, whatever I create ends up dying. The whole point of RDBA is to be low-commitment, something to play with on Rainy Days. :)
